It's great to have Cilantro in the World Trade Center mall as there are not many restaurants on Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles.
Only open Monday to Friday, no weekends because the owner likes to spend time with his family and friends on the weekends.
Because there are not many other restaurants in this area they do a brisk business with their extended product line.
Not only do they have the usual Cilantro Food like Burritos and Burritos Bowls, but for the lunch crowd only they have a couple of Pasta Dishes (Red and White sauce) with chicken and veggies added.
They will also make you a pizza in their stone fired oven with unlimited toppings.
That is what I got--pizza with chicken and a bunch or veggies.
I was going to get Mexican but there were a bunch of guys in there today and they were all ordering pizza. While the pizzas were in the oven I chatted with them--they told me that they are taking a break from the production set up for the Emmy Awards this weekend. I said to them: Aren't the Emmy's at the Microsoft theater? They said Yup. But that is not close to here. They said when in town they come to this Cilantro it is so good.
Well, I thought the pizza was good to very good. Is it the best ever--No. But I would come back here. One thing I will tell you is that the owner is not stingy with the toppings and same with the Burritos I saw him make. They will make sure you are stuffed.
And every thing is prices to be around $10 with tax so not too bad for LA downtown.
They have a nice area to sit inside the restaurant but most people take it to go.
Normally I would have given them a 3 or 3.5 star for the food, but I am giving these great folks a 4 star today because they delivered a quality clean meal and they took a risk opening up a restaurant in an area where there is no other restaurants. For that my hat is off to them!
